Founded in 1958 to educate scientists and engineers at what is NASA's Kennedy Space Center today, Florida Tech is the only independent technological university in the Southeast. Academic and research endeavors for undergraduate students are cutting edge, including aerospace, robotics and high-tech security. Located near the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River, Florida Tech offers many opportunities in marine research, including a research vessel. Scientific and psychological research on aging and infectious diseases impacts real life issues. Faculty members' research projects with scientists from other countries and alliances with NASA and industry and scientific groups, allow students to apply their learning.
